27 years old with really no experience in any kind of offshore work. I am looking to work as much as I can for the next 1.5-2 years so I can save up and go back to school or just move on to a better career opportunity. I have applied with countless companies over the past month, and maybe I'm not doing what I need to be doing to get on. Anyone that works offshore, or knows anyone that does, know what I need to do to make this happen? Thanks in advance!

Become a plant "operator" like all these dudes on TD. Make $350K yearly, no overtime and sit at a control panel all day.

Your best shot is to apply to Drilling Rig companies as a Roustabout. Usually always looking for people.
Try Hercules, Diamond Offshore, Spartan Offshore, Rowan, Nabors, Noble Drilling, Bennu, etc..

Honestly, went to school for a few years, and didn't finish.. Got too caught up in the party scene, chasing women, got multiple DWIs, and working jobs just to survive not making much. My work schedule kind of revolved around my weekends and trying to have too much fun. I quit drinking 6 months ago and just trying to get my life back on track.

Before you get blasted for the dwis, it's good to see you're looking to make a change for the better.

seriously...before you do anything go get your TWIC, Rigging 6th Edition, Water Survival and Safe Gulf.

Then go apply for a job offshore.

The people that do the blasting are the people that have yet to get caught. Trust me, I know. And no not looking to get married anytime soon at all.

Falk Alford in Houma does pretty much any training necessary for offshore. Not sure about the cost as my company pays for it.

ETA: to OP, drive around Lafayette and apply at any drilling or service company. Everyone is looking for hands these days. Also, rigzone could be your friend.

I would start with survey companies (fugro, tesla, c&c technologies) easiest field to get into offshore with no experience or training. If you bust your arse you can move up quickly in the this field. Mostly the work happens between April thru Nov slow the rest of the year. Now is the best time to get in and get trained ready to go when things start moving again in April.
