Conversations surrounding crawfish boils in Louisiana could get heated after one country bans the act of boiling live lobsters, citing reasons of animal cruelty.

quote:

Lutz argues a ban on boiling live crustaceans is not backed up by science.

because emotional crawfish rights advocates will care about science.

quote:

Caring about the life and death of crawfish is how Lutz makes his living, but even he stirred the pot and bets there will likely never be a ban in Louisiana like there is in Switzerland.

I bet this will be a big deal in a few years now that out of state attention is being draw to it.

It’s easy to kill a lobster before boiling it. A sack of 100 little crawfish? Not so much.

To me it’s not a big deal since the water kills the crawfish nearly instantaneously.

Yeah I'm not killing each individual crawfish, I'm just dumping them all in.

A fast humane way to kill them all instantly is to dump them in boiling water.

Their screams have haunted me for years. Boiled alive. Terrible way to go.

Boiling water does kill them, and quite quickly I might add.

I read on one of these websites where they talk about 'oh well when you throw a lobster in boiling water, they writhe and they kick and they scrape along the edge of the pot.' Well actually the same thing happens when you throw them into room temperature water," LSU Crustacean Specialist Greg Lutz Ph. D. said.

Lmao these idiots just make claims that aren't based in facts.

quote:

Psychologically, there is no reason to believe or expect that a crustacean has the nervous system to process and feel pain. They simply are not equipped with that. A crustacean's nervous system is a lot like an insect's nervous system," Lutz said.

Lutz claim is backed by the Lobster Institute at the University of Maine. The institute published, "Neither insects nor lobsters have brains. For an organism to perceive pain it must have a more complex nervous system. Neurophysiologists tell us that lobsters, like insects, do not process pain."

Facts just keep dick slapping all these bleeding heart c unts.

I honestly wouldn’t care if they suffered and took 10 minutes to die in the water.

Because it is a fricking bug. And its life is meaningless.

These same people crying about lobsters won't hesitate to step on a cockroach if one comes crawling through their living room.

eh, there will be some folks pissed off. I don't think that a lot of people who have never eaten them realize that they are boiled alive. I dated a girl from Seattle who was shocked about it.
