On Hattiesburg-I'm grew up there and lived there until recently
Mugshots is just a restaurant now like the one in BR that closed. The old one that was primarily a bar burned down. Ropers is a country themed bar similar to texas club in BR. Brewsky's is more of a live band/college kid venue. Keg and Barrel off of Hardy street is the best craft beer selection with more of a grad student/mid twenties crowd. Mahogany Bar or "the hog" is the best upscale adult/business crowd and branch is in the same building with the same idea. These two bars offer the best whisky selection and was listen in Southern living's best bars of the south. Everything else sucks TBH.
EDIT: Endzone is one of the oldest bars around and offers a halfway decent beer selection along with pool tables, but have the best pub food in town. The Hog and Branch are in the same building as Crescent City (casual) and Purple Parrot (4* fine dinning, for Hattiesburg at least) Hope this helps
