With Live After 5 kicking off next week, does anyone know the status of the Open Container enforcement down town?

Used to not enforce at all. Did something change?

You can walk up and down 3rd street with open drinks and in and out of the area where they play music

From what I understand, the unofficial allowance of open containers on third has ended and they will enforce it.

Should be the fine. I'd imagine it's the same as any festival or event with a permit.

Is there still a complaint that there isn't more urban entertainment at the venue?

The area bars asked for the open container law to be enforced because customers were rolling into their bars with drinks from other establishments. They were worried patrons would buy drinks from a cheaper bar and then walk into the nicer bars to party/dance.

So why don't they have a guy at the door enforcing no outside drinks?

Here's an article from June about it, and the bars don't seem to happy about the enforcement: LINK

Hmm...I wonder what are considered "designated places"?

Baton Rouge does allow public consumption in designated places at events with permits such as festivals and the Live After 5 concerts,

"You can't leave a bar with an open container," he said.

LA5 has their own permits to allow drinking so during the time of the show, you can drink within their perimeter and not have an issue.

They popped Happys for this at the entire of the last Live after 5 season.

But the one week it was being "enforced" they set up beer stands by the bands. So really it was only enforced on the bars themselves

Yeah, we would buy the larger beers from Happy's and walk back to Repentance Park with them. I was wondering if that will still be allowed.
