Posters on this thread. Many of the folks I attend with are at church every time there is something going on.

It’s definitely a thing. I live not far away from 1 of the only 2 Catholic Churches in my Parish. 10 years ago vehicles would be parked up and down the road on a Sunday, not so much today. I see more traffic on Saturday afternoons than I do on Sundays.

It’s funny

There’s people in this thread that bitch when someone schedules a wedding on a college football Saturday lol

They get upset and call it inconsiderate when this happens. It’s kind of the same concept. I think it’s pretty inconsiderate when leagues and coaches schedule games and practices on Sundays.

And people can choose to go or not go to a wedding if they value football over a wedding. Just like they can choose to not go to church if they value their kids baseball over church.

It doesn’t affect my church but I hear of Sunday afternoon practices with baseball and softball. Growing up we never had any athletics on Sunday. Sundays should be off limits it’s insane what it’s become.

You never read the Old Testament? God loves travel ball, and Gatorade tastes better than religion’s kool-aid.

Who? Name them. Name the posters that said that you have to be at church every Wednesday evening, Sunday morning, and Sunday evening.

Good for them, but I’m not sure that’s necessarily required.

God's commandant was this: "Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy."

Hebrews 10:24-25: "We must consider how to rouse one another to love and good works. We should not stay away from our assembly, as is the custom of some, but encourage one another, and this all the more as you see the day drawing near."

And most importantly, God commanded: "I am the Lord thy God, thou shalt have no other gods before me."

The secular society has built, and continues to build, many "gods" that come before God and Jesus. Activities that take place at the same time as traditional church services are some of them.

Some of Y’all are some brainwashed dumbasses

Let me repeat myself once again

It has nothing to do with whether people pick sports over church or whether parents are bad or whatever

It has everything to do with the leagues and coaches picking sports over church.

My point is if there was the “don’t schedule things on Sundays rule” still in effect, then we would not be having this conversation about low attendance in Church.

Can y’all not see that is my argument here?? Are some of y’all that dumb?

I’m going to explain it again

If there were no games, tournaments or practices scheduled on Sundays, then people would be attending Church instead of having to attend baseball and softball games.

Since people are now having to attend baseball and softball games on Sundays, the attendance at Church has declined significantly. At least at my Church.

That’s all my complaint is about and y’all want to make it out to be that I am accusing parents of being shitty parents or whatever. I’m not saying that at all with this argument.

I just think it’s pretty shitty that leagues and coaches are scheduling events on Sundays and not respecting parents and kids who normally attend Church every Sunday.

Jeeeez

my question to op and the haters, why does one have to be at church every time the doors are open? Why can’t the baws have a little of both (ball and Jesus)?

It’s a hard thing nowadays with the way kids sports are played but at the same time what does it tell your kid if every Sunday in the spring and summer they don’t go to church?

Do you think they will set aside Sunday morning for church when they go to college? If they don’t go in college then what happens in their 20s and 30s?

It’s just a critical time for kids learning the habits and morals that will carry through for the rest of their life and they are being told that it’s only important if there is nothing else going on. If there is something else then by all means skip it. And once the habit is broken it becomes easier and easier to skip,

Don’t get why people find your post bothersome. This board loves to talk about how morals have declined in the last couple of decades yet don’t want to talk about making sure the next generation gets ingrained in judeo Christian values that has been the bedrock of western society for the last 2000 years.

Perhaps it’s a sore spot they feel convicted about but are too far down to turn back

ETA I know some great parents who struggle with this so I’m not trying to play holier than thou. They have to really be diligent and try to make up for it in other ways but

I think to your point it isn’t just on the parents it’s on the leagues and coaches.

Now we will hear crickets from them because they now feel like idiots trying to argue my complaint lol

Not to mention, I specifically said “if you are not religious and don’t attend church, then this post does not pertain to you”

But nooo.. they want to throw words into my mouth.. accuse me of blaming parents for being shitty and bla bla bla - that was not my point at all.

And do we have to be in a pew to worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ?

You are not an island. In fact, this idea that our brains are like computers that are fully in-charge of the meat puppet below it, is simply a delusion.

We are extremely social creatures, and most of our actions are instinctual and imitative.

Humble yourself and worship your God with a contrite heart. Believe what you Savior taught you, to take his body and blood and feed your soul.

Today’s first reading was from the Acts. After Saul (Paul)’s conversion,!he sought out the apostles in Jerusalem and spent time in community with them.

Paul could have begun teaching on his own, but he knew that he needed the community of believers to strengthen his faith and to be taught the ways of Jesus by those who lived with him.

They got rid of our 4:00 p.m. Sunday Mass after COVID due to low attendance. That was my favorite Mass. It helped clear the soul and brain and prepare for the coming week.

Bro
Why do you care what other people do with their time?
Life is too short.
Go enjoy what you choose to do on Sunday to the fullest.
