Legal Advice and Personal Attacks Required Within

How do I get myself into these situations?!?! 
2 weeks ago, my valet guy shattered my driver side view mirror and tore the housing up on my F150. He meets me that afternoon to apologize and prepare me before I see it. Dude says, "I'm sorry. We'll fix it, I'm already looking up parts on the internet."
I say, "Whatever, just get it fixed."
A week goes by without another mention. Granted, I see these people 4 times a day Monday through Friday.
Last week, I asked for an update and the guy who broke it gives me his boss' phone number and tells me to take it up with her. So, he wasted 4 days and didn't even tell his boss what he did.
I get in touch with the owner and explain the situation. Her response, no lie, was, "Well, let me talk to them and make sure they actually did it, and we'll start the process from there. You'll need to get me 3 bids, but wait until I clarify with them it is our fault."
Did she just accuse me of lying to her from the get go?
So now another week has gone by without any contact, and I'm still without my mirror. I don't have time to take off work and spend the day letting 3 different collision centers look it over to give me an estimate. Nobody will do it over the phone, I've asked.
So legal question: Is it my responsibility to do the leg work for them? Would I be due compensation for missing work to get the bids? If I just go get it fixed and hand her the bill, can she wiggle out of paying it because it wasn't authorized by her?

Just tell her she's got until the end of the week to cut you a check for the fair market value of the damage repair or you'll see her on The People's Court

you don't really have a responsibility to do anything you don't want to do. that said, i'd get ONE quote, send it to them with a letter telling them they can either pay you the money or arrange directly with the repair shop to do the work. if you want to make sure it gets done, get an attorney to send the bill and a letter threatening suit if htey don't take care of it. you aren't required to do even this amount, but this is the way it will likely be taken care of.
eta: you don't have to use an attorney, but people tend to take these things more seriously on letterhead.

Call your insurance company and let them handle it for you. This is what you pay them for.

1) should've called your insurer immediately. Waiting this long doesn't help.
2) you sure as hell don't have to get three quotes. Get one and tell them to pay it. Valets are required to have pretty substantial insurance to operate in the state - you're not going to break their back.

He's a minimum wage, valet employee. Do you really trust him to "be on the ball" and fixing your truck?

I've got an attorney buddy who would probably send a letter for me, but I don't want to get into hiring one and filing a law suit over $100 part and $200 in labor.
I'm just stunned that a business I have dealt with for many years would not be more proactive in fixing their mistakes and keeping customers happy.
It's been 2 weeks, you tore my shite up... Get to fixing it.

I'd bet good money on nothing happening until I contact them again. Even though, I'm technically still waiting for her to get clarification and contact me back about proceeding.

You're just going to trust anything a random person(that's what you are to her at the time, not a bad thing, just facts) and take their word for it?
Also, call your insurance company, and they'll do the legwork for you. That's why you pay them every month, use them.

Get them one quote from someone you trust. Do you really want someone shady fixing it for them for you?

You need to be a pain for them to need to fix it. Also, I'd complain as high up as you can. Get her boss involved, if you aren't going to provide simple customer service on a simple task then I have no issues complaining.

Not sure about LA, but I was hit from the side in a 100% obvious it was not my fault situation in a gas station and private property is 50/50 liability. So my it still cost me a deductible. BS.

Your boss isn't there to coddle you. She's a busy woman. Man up and get your shite fixed.
