I have a few light fixtures that have a max wattage of 60w which doesn't put out much light and the room is dark. Is there any safety issue with using a 100w equivalent LED bulb that draws 14w?

CFL equivalents of 60w incandescent lights is 13watts.

I have a lot of them around the house. Works great, but don't buy into the marketed lifespan hours.

My understanding is that the max wattage rating is related to how much heat the fixture can withstand. LED bulbs don't generate heat like inca descents so it shouldn't matter.

Any electricians that can confirm this?
