There is a reason that apps like f.lux and new OS features like Night Shift exist.

I don't believe this.

False.

Don't have to filter out yellow if it isn't there to begin with.

Unequivocally true.

Reveal incandescent looks totally different than 5000K. It looks great.

I had no idea that Kelvins were used to measure something like that

Kelvins are really a measure of temperture (it's the Celsius scale where zero is absolute zero instead of the freezing point of water) but I believe this is related to blackbody radiation.

Basically, any object that is heated emits energy in the form of light waves, and the light frequency is shorter the hotter the object gets. For example, a stove eye might be a dull red, but something much hotter will be yellow.

In lighting, colors are rated by the temperature a blackbody emitter would have to be to emit that color of light.

It's an opinion. So no. It's false.

And my white light looks better to me than any <3000K bulb.

In my opinion, nothing looks as good as a good ol fashion old school 65 watt incandescent bulb. If only they didn't burn out so quickly...

Higher than 3500 in a house gives me a headache. I'm never coming over for that BBQ

you have changed to LED bulbs recently, and haven't been getting very good sleep, check the color temperature of the bulb

Or just turn off the lights when you go to sleep.

People are retarded nowadays.

LED lights all say in giant letters on the packaging there is a difference in the type of light.

In my house any lights on the ceiling not in bedrooms are daylight bulbs. All lamps and bedrooms are soft/warm. At night we turn all the ceiling lights off and only use lamps

Some people may not know the ramifications of choosing different lights on color temperature scale.

I use 2700K LEDs at home and normally see 4000K fixtures in office environments.

I used to sell bulbs too. I would only recommend high kelvin bulbs (5000) for vanities or bathrooms, otherwise they are too bluish to relax under. I also like the Reveal bulbs, they give a very natural color rendition. GE also has some LED's at 2850k that I want to try. I find standard 2700k is too yellow.

Lumens, which is the true measure of brightness, is often overlooked.

I have halogens. Where are those on this scale?

But we usually just use on our lighting above our bar after dark/dinner, which has Edison bulbs that lull us to sleep.

This thread

GE, Sylvania and Phillips all make bulbs that are tunable to all levels of the spectrum and some can handle colors and of course they dim.

Yep they cost a bit more but you have total control and can change the light depending on whether you're doing homework in the kitchen or just relaxing.

Yes

Eta I have all 3 in my house. The Philips hue are the best followed by Sylvania lightify then the GE morning bulbs which have great color range but their Bluetooth app is crap.
