Lawyer: Video shows police officer caused confrontation with social worker

A Houston social worker charged with resisting arrest in March says she feels lucky to be alive after a traffic stop turned into a physical confrontation with a Metro police officer and a two-day stint in jail.
quote:
Earledreka White, 28, was handcuffed and arrested while talking to a 911 dispatcher, asking for police back-up for the traffic stop, the video shows. "I would like another officer to come out here," she tells the dispatcher. "My heart is racing. I'm really afraid."
quote:
A screenshot of surveillance camera footage of Dreka White's arrest in the 10000 block of South Main Street in Houston, Texas. Lawyers for the 28-year-old social worker say the arresting Metro PD officer escalated the situation and caused a physical confrontation.
Full Story
My thoughts? Comply and this situation does not escalate or exist. At some point, following directions has become a forgotten skill and replaced with "always question authority."
Fat Gary's thoughts:
quote:
When you watch the full 4 minute video you see how this officer simply decided to hell with this woman's request for another officer. He began to take her down. He was wrong, but this is what black people deal with daily.
quote:
One of the main reasons a cop doesn't mind killing black people, is they don't lose anything when they do it. They kill us and go home on paid leave. If we simply changed the policy that if you kill someone, you go home without pay until the investigation is complete-- we would see a decrease in these incidents. Why? Because there is a fear of losing something. That's one simple policy that would help us address this policing problem. Currently cops are sent on vacation while the investigation continues. That's almost like rewarding someone for killing a person...

Fat Gary is just such a internet hero.
If I was back in school and had a school project on people who truly inspire me or what I want to be when I grown up, it would without a doubt be Fat Gary Chambers.
It would be an honor to even shake his chubby hand.

Does anyone know of any professional white person who has been to jail for something like this? Respect the cops and 99.9% of the time, they will respect you back. It's like it's ingrained in the black community to resist everything. Me no comprendo.
FWIW, I live in Houston.

This isn't true. It'll fool his followers though. That's the sad part.

His real thoughts are how can I twist this story to get the attention I crave?

Even though I don't agree with his comments or the racial division he wants to create and/or maintain, I believe it is important that the citizens of Baton Rouge and surrounding areas are kept abreast on the tension that still plagues our city.
These "civic" leaders who are able to get the attention of the political pussification leaders that represent "us" need to hear comments from both sides and simply don't create or enact a law or policy that is only beneficial for one race.
I would be happy to have this discussion with Mr. Chambers, however he has reached his limit of Facebook followers that can post to his thread and he has been known to delete posts from white people who don't agree with his message, as this disrupts the thought process of those that follow his word.

some black people are sure getting uppity with LEO lately though for sure. The side of the road during a stop is no place to plead your case. I have never thought to myself" Hey, Meauxjeaux2, maybe if you plead your case with the officer you won't have to go to court"
That's what the court is for but these people refuse to get it.

This is what cops are dealing with on a daily basis now and all the Fat Gary's of the world are doing is fueling this shite. This dumbass didn't comply. Simple as that. You don't get to call dispatch to plead your case after being pulled over. You simply sit there and answer the cop's questions. If this stupid frick would've been cordial and polite she likely would've gotten off with just a warning. But nooooooooooo, that's too fricking complicated for this "licensed clinician." Btw, I like how she threw that in there like that makes here somehow above the law.

frick this women. When will these fricking idiots realize they are actually CAUSING the drama, not avoiding it.
So the cop is talking to her and she just tells him frick off im going to call the cops on you?? For what, doing his job and giving her a ticket?
Stupid motherfrickers.....
Can we get someone to come out and ask the black community to stop resisting arrest?
BLM slogan is hands up --- yet not one person ever does...ever.
Cops are getting killed, ambushed, etc, you think they are not going to be on high alert for every single encounter at this point? Shouldn't they be? Are you in danger of being killed today while at work? For only doing your job?
....
Do what your are told. Shut your fricking mouth.. Wow -- I just solved the entire riddle.
I should LITERALLY get a medal for the sheer volume of lives I just saved....
They say if you say something 7 times it becomes memorized, yet people can chant "hands up" for MONTHS and yet never remember the procedure

The officer showed tremendous patience and poise. She was in the wrong for being non-compliant. She knew what she was doing by playing stupid games. Officer was in the right. Move on. End of story.

1. She should have just given him her license. She could take it up with the court.
2. He absolutely escalated the situation. Once he heard the word harassment on the phone, even though she was being fairly respectful, he lost it .

If she would have done this, there likely would not have been any escalation.

I found him to be very patient. He didn't attempt to arrest her until 3 minutes into the video. That's about 2 minutes and 45 seconds too long.

there's at least one level headed poster on Garys page. Guess he hasn't seen this guys posts yet. I'm sure Fat Albert will be deleting him soon.

Richard Johnson So, is it ok for a citizen to request which officer arrest them? Your fight belongs in Court, not the streets. This is a major concern for our youth, they must understand the law and where it's best to solve problems

Richard Johnson Feleshia Hughes Citizens must understand their rights and the law. She should have taken the ticket and fight it in Court. Your battles are in Court not the streets.

I am from a different Generation...X, we respect the gun and it's potential bullets. Once fired, who knows where it will land. Choices are our only defense.
quote:
Richard Johnson Let me ask, did she not have to deal with the same as a result of her actions including but not limited to her time served by being incarcerated? My comments to you is being made to teach not to argue. A lawyer now has her case so at what point was she or is she not dealing with the System? Sir, my name is Richard Johnson. I'm the Founder of Justice for Fathers. I know a little bit about the system you speak of. Change is necessary in all facets of our Court but it's the only place that we can truly win the war of injustice. Best wishes.

FWIW, this has worked for me in the last two encounters I had with police. The last two times I've been pulled over for speeding I was asked to get out and come to the back of the vehicle. I followed the order as requested. Then the officer in on case (Jeanerette) told me I was going 85 when my adaptive cruise control was set on 70 and in the other (Patterson) he said I was going 74 while I was actually going 60. These are notorious speed traps and I've been caught speeding in both before, so I refuse to go any faster than 5 MPH over. I'll take a ticket for 5 MPH over, but not 20 and 19 over when I wasn't going that fast. Anyway, I lost it both times. I vocally and quite dramatically pleaded my case and described what I was actually doing, how this entire scheme is a racket, etc. After I finished my rant, both officers explained that they may have caught another vehicle, apologized for the inconvenience, and was let go without further incident.
If it matters, both officers were black men and I'm a white guy.
