Whats the law in Louisiana on someone over 18 riding in the cargo area of a SUV?

I assume we will hit a checkpoint at some point between Nola and Mandeville which is why I ask if it is illegal or not.

They could get a seatbelt ticket. I'd say the $25 fine is worth it. But your passenger would have to be a real dick to the cop to get written one.

I rarely if ever drink due to reactions to alcohol so I got used to it a long time ago.

More than likely, a seat belt violation if anything. Given the situation, any cop who isn't a complete dick should let you go

This, if you get pulled over explain that you are being responsible by being dd, and they might have driven drunk, etc.... Maybe they will let ya go
