He was born in '50, so the war started when he was 11 yrs old. The war lasted until '65, so he was maybe 15 when it ended. Not that unusual.

There will probably be a few WWII veterans who will outlive most current members of this board.

The last US vets would have been born in 1927. 2035 sounds about right.

It may be one of these youngsters who lives to be 110 or more.

I sat next to an older gentlemen and his wife at UK football games for years. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He didn't tell me till we had been sitting besides each other for about 3 years. He really didn't like talking about it.

It is estimated that only a third of us who served in Country are alive. 3 million or so served in Country

My great great grandfather fought at Chickamauga as a 15 year old.

Jesus, 12 years old.

Calvin Leon Graham (April 3, 1930 – November 6, 1992) was the youngest U.S. serviceman to serve and fight duringWorld War II.[2] Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the United States Navy from Houston, Texas on August 15, 1942, at the age of 12.[3] His case was similar to that of Jack W. Hill, who was granted significant media attention due to holding service number one million during World War II, but later was discovered to have lied about his age and subsequently discharged.

IIRC for years Guinness had an entry for him
Was his claim debunked?

My great uncle is still kicking. Joined the army somehow at age 16 in 1944--fought in WW2, Korea, Vietnam, and was an advisor all the way through Desert Storm.
