To fish or just for scenery and water sports?

Fishing:
Toledo Bend - LA
Sam Rayburn - Texas
Guntersville - Alabama


Scenery:
Canyon Lake - Texas
Lake Mitchell(or any Coosa river lakes) - Alabama
Smith Lake - Alabama
Lake Ouachita - Ar-Kansas
Table Rock - Missouri

Grew up going to Lake Ouachita, north of Hot springs, AR. It is a fantastic lake with cabins near by. There are no houses on the lake, but you can rent house boats. Look into it. Its fantastic

We have a place on Smith Lake and we love it.

With teenagers, we don't get there as often as we would like but I would recommend the lake to everyone.

Significantly more than 8 hours away but Lake Powell, UT is absolutely gorgeous.

Lake DeGray also has a pretty nice golf course on it
