There is an island directly across from the main Brady Mtn. launch. Turn right at the resort and go all the way down. I stayed there, and it's a nice camping location. We had a ski boat, not a house boat so not sure about the depth issues.

Also, I've never seen a snake at LO.

You will have a blast!

Thanks - I know people do this trip all the time. Glad to hear that many others have done it and enjoyed it.

I've done that trip with some buddies (not bachelor party) camping and with a houseboat. There's an island called hotel island that is pretty sweet. You can camp on the beaches and park the houseboat there.

The time we took the houseboat, there was a driver who took us out there and parked it on the island for us. So, if you're renting one, the company should be able to Reccomend you a spot.

I will say there are usually other people on hotel island if its a weekend or holiday the times I have been.

my family has camped out there for years. If you are anywhere near the Crystal Springs marina they have Big 35 and several other easy to camp islands (I think #s 12 and 13, but many of the islands in that area are flat)

Do NOT and I repeat DO NOT go to the Southeast side of the lake. It starts in the Irons Creek/Thompkins Bend area. You don't want to camp out there this time of the year. There are things out there that, well let's just say animals and humans that will not want you roaming around at night.

I'm doing my bachelor party in Lake Ouachita over memorial day. About 20 of us rented a house boat and a ski boat, and are looking to camp on an island or back in a cove.

I see no mention of pussy being involved. Prayers sent.

It has been several summers ago, but isn't it a dry county? Might want to load up on the way

If you see a young man with teeth missing and playing a bango, run.

Going camping for a bachelor party might not be a good idea. You can't have a bachelor party without strippers and it is a scientific fact that snakes are attracted to the smell of herpes. Do you think it was a coincidence that the slut getting banged in the bathroom was the first to day in Snakes on a Plane?

At age 30 having done every other type of bachelor party and having lived in New Orleans for well over a decade the typical "bachelor party" ideas are less than exciting for me.

Fun place. Me and some buds camped in one cove a couple years back. It's was a perfect little rocky shoreline. Water was crystal clear back there as well. We also had a pontoon to use. You'll have a good time, I prefer trips like that with my friends over places like nola and what not.

You will need more than one of the houseboats for 20 people. We had 12 on the largest option and it was cramped

It was a blast though

Yea we'll have one houseboat (7 bedrooms - 6 queen beds and 4 twin beds), a ski boat, and a pontoon boat. And as I've mentioned several times, many of us are far more comfortable in our personal tents than sharing a queen bed with another full grown man so we're all set.

did the same exact thing last year, it was fricking awesome

frick that, get two boats. We had around that same number and got two boats plus we brought a fishing boat and a jetski. I'm not even sure if the company will let yall leave the dock with 20 people on the boat. I would probably check on the legal limit (coast guard regulations) with them just in case.

I'm curious if anyone out there has experienced camping on any of these islands or coves

we just played it by ear and moved each day

yall will have an awesome time, the lake is badass. We did not run into any cops but apparently they are pretty strict on operating boats drunk so just keep that in mind for whoever is operating the ski boat.

Thanks - really like hearing positive feedback on this. I'm also taking away that all islands/coves are pretty similar.

I'm also assuming other boaters/groups practice fishing courtesy and won't come crowd us if we have a large camp set up.
