UPDATE

As of yesterday, my delinquent debt has been resolved/absolved whatever!

And it is all due to this thread! bumpcity76 was my last chance at getting to a real life official who would look at my records and see that I followed the directions when I initially got the letter.

Thank you OT!

For anyone else in a similar situation, I suggest going that route. Although the email even took time, it did fix my issue that should have been handled by mail, then phone afterwards...before the 6 letters that I was issued.

-----------------------

They don't have the infrastructure to even respond to all the calls. This means they can't even gt payments over the phone.

I've been dealing with this since October, where I responded to the initial letter the day I got it. Even called the OMV.

Now it's January. I'm probably grouped with everyone else. And I'll have to shell over all the fees that I shouldn't have been charged in the first place.

Yep, can't make simple payments over the phone because of this nonsense.

I was at the DMV for an hour and half last Friday because of this. I did leave after about 40 minutes to go grab a bite to eat, came back and they were still almost 20 people ahead of my number.

Even the website they give you doesn't work.

Every call I make is dropped.

EXCEPT the initial one I made when I first got the letter.

If I can't do state taxes because of this shite, I am going to be pissed!

Really wasn't all that bad. I got there and the place was packed, and there were ~35 people ahead of me. They were constantly calling numbers and moving people through. And certain desks only help certain issues.

So I was there for 90 minutes and 36 people were helped, so it was seemingly pretty efficient. Only thing is I should have been able to do all this on a phone call.

I went in and explained to them that they were wrong and brought all my documents showing where they were wrong and yet I still ended up paying. I was irate.

If you were at the one on Independence Blvd, that was a model DMV office until the Jindal wrecking ball came through eight years ago.

Going to the dmv and then just sliding a 40 minute lunch in between getting your number called is pretty bold

There is something like a $750 million shortfall in the budget. Of course the state employees being the bright bunch that they are, are probably spending more money collecting the fees than the actual fees themselves. Spending $5 to save $1 if you will.

My brother got the letter because the pieces of shite at Sterling Automotive let his paperwork on trade in sit on their desk for a couple months before doing anything with it.

Sterling was basically useless in helping correct the situation they caused. They wouldn't even return a call.

My issue was because of insurance.

I sat down with my insurance agent and we both contacted the OMV. I quickly sent the proper paperwork off to the OMV.

I'm still getting OMV letters about it. And you should see some of them. Some of them are poorly done photocopies of standard bulk mail letters. The envelopes those came in don't even seem professional. It's like getting a sketchy email from a credit card company to Pechus instead of Pectus.

I don't understand the issue.

That would be bold. I however high tailed it to serops express on Jefferson and came right back. Was disappointed that I rushed when I saw there were still like 17 numbers ahead of me.

Not sure what you are referring to. But that DMV is 10x more efficient than it was before the remodel.

ETA: It all depends what you are going there for. Reinstatements take forever since everyone is in there for that right now. Vehicle registrations and address changes are in and out.

Much better now that they have certain desks that only work on certain issues.

I am as well. went this morning to meet in person and the line was out the door, down the right side of the building nearing the far corner.

Ive tried dealing over the phone and have even faxed over my info to them. They tell me something just does not add up. I ask what exactly isnt right with my paperwork and they cant give me an answer. I told them untill you can clearly tell me what I did wrong or why I owe money for selling a Jeep to someone in Mississippi, then Im not paying....I now have a nice collections letter from the Department of Louisiana Collections

I'm working out of town. So, I dug around on the website and found this email address: InsuranceInquiry@la.gov. I emailed them because their drivers license inquiry said I had a hold on my license. They responded within a couple of hours asking for some documentation. I gathered the documentation, and emailed it in. I was cleared within minutes. Super easy. I was shocked at how easily the process went.
