Any of y'all in the know have any idea when they're gonna be done with this?

Not anytime soon! Do you remember how long 190 in Mandeville was torn up?
I was in it yesterday. It's a mess.

The traffic is out of control on 21.

At least seventeen town hall meeting must occur before any consideration is given to expediting the construction.

JB James has been working on the new bridge for over a year. It looks to be months from completion.
If I'm not mistaken, after the new bridge is completed, traffic will be re-routed over it and the existing bridge will be demo'ed and replaced. At the rate they're going, it'll be another couple of years before that happens.
Per the LA DOTD website, the project will widen 21 to four travel lanes, with a raised median from Bootlegger Rd (1085) to 11th (the north side of STGH). No estimated completion date was given. I did find a NOLA.com article dated July, '14 announcing the start of construction on the - are you ready for this? - 18 MONTH project. Unless we experience a Festivus miracle, this shitshow will continue for much longer than 18 months. (Maybe the bridge was supposed to take 18 months to complete. It could possible be finished in six or eight weeks. No approaches, bridge only!)
Yesterday I was westbound on 8th, trying to turn south on 21. It took me at least 15 minutes to get through the intersection. It's a clusterfrick and the problem is magnified by inconsiderate assholes who block the intersection after the signal changes.

They should blow up the madisonville bridge and build an overpass that's high as shite. Tired of sitting there at 5:00 pm with the bridge closed which is the dumbest thing ever.

I thought I left bad traffic behind when I moved from Baton Rouge. Took my wife over an hour to get from Downtown Covington to 21 and Bootlegger a few weeks ago. I know it's because of construction, but thats ridiculous.

Same. I called DOTD's Covington branch this morning. The girl said her estimate currently sits at December 2016, and when I asked if they had backed up previous estimates at all, she said no and that they were ahead of schedule.
Hope she's right.

That'll never happen. There's no place to land a high rise bridge on the west side. The approach ramp would have to start past Pine St.

Sorry, it went over my head...
I lived practically next door to "Madisonville's Stupid Bridge" (as it's known on Facebook) for six years. I know plenty of people who are VERY serious about a wanting a high rise bridge. Traffic can definitely be a pain in the arse, but the prospect of a high rise bridge is ridiculous.
