My house was built in 1886. I bought it 18 years ago, and the insurance guy saw it and said it scared the shite out of underwriters. But, he was hungry, and I have a great policy. I do upgrade portions of it when renovating.

My house has both. We have had no issues in eleven years.

my home was built in 1945 and has mostly knob and tube. i bought it in 2004 and State Farm insures it without a problem.
