That was a nightmare of a commute day. Obama flew into Love field in the middle of town... Most of the other VIPs went via DFW. I was trying to get to Walnut Hill @75 from Irving that day.

i was coming from Prosper down to 35, i only hit the tail end of it around mocking bird, so my delay was about 10 minutes. heard it was worse for everybody else.

Protestors were dropping "banners" from multiple overpasses into oncoming traffic. By banners - I mean bedsheets sewn together with various slogans on them. Trying to steal media attention almost caused some major pileups on top of the motorcade closings.

It was not caused by the motorcade. It was caused by someone not paying attention to what was in front of him.

I've been on that plane. .

Seriously. When Cheney came for LSU Graduation in 2006. We had a connected friend who got my whole family on it. Pretty cool but not nearly big and cool as Airforce 1.

Thanks.

I've witnessed on two occasions wrecks nearly happen when motorcade escorts veered into traffic with no consideration for drivers. You can't make cars and trucks traveling highway speeds stop on a dime or merge two-three lanes over.

this is exactly what happened. I just drove out there and gave those poor people my info as a witness. Those cars were mangled pretty bad and several had injuries. All BRPD need to do was put a unit on the 190 overpass and this would have been avoided.

State Police brought four team buses onto I-10W from College, going all of maybe 15 MPH up the circle entrance. The escort didn't ease them in with the lane that is there for that purpose. No, he took them into the middle I-10 lane without warning, and had his rear escort shut the lanes down. People could've been killed.

I'm supportive of law enforcement, but use some common sense. If today's wrecks are their fault, they need to take responsibility.

This doesn't make any sense.

I-110 crosses over Hwy.190. It's elevated so you cannot see what's going on on the other side and traffic was at a standstill in the right lane. All BRPD had to do was station a patrol car there to warn drivers who were crossing over at interstate speeds and the wreck could have been avoided.

Truck driver probably fled because he was an illegal Mexican immigrant.

I've never understood the motorcade thing. Can't they find a helicopter or two?

I would venture to say that it was caused by a truck that didn't brake in time...

If the drivers had been more careful they would not have been whizzing past at highway speeds. If an entire lane of traffic is stopped, you either slow down, move over an extra lane, or both. You do that precisely because someone might pull out in front of you.
