I have a vehicle posted in CL too. I frick with them so bad when I get those messages. Tell them to meet you at the corner with money in $1 bills in a brown sack. Give the bag to the clown and walk away. Don't talk to the clown. Wait on directions to the vehicle.

List your phone # and say text only. I will not respond to email or calls. It's the best because you have a record of the correspondence. When sold.. Delete the ad. Being serious. I've sold on CL for 8 years.

So when everyone says only take cash do the buyers show up with thousands of dollars in cash or are you going to a bank to settle some way? Cashier's check?

Just curious because I need to sell a car in the spring.

This is the funniest reverse scam I have ever seen. He has the guy hooked for the longest. The pictures he uses are hilarious.

I always always always meet at a bank during working hours so I get everybody face on camera. I have bought and sold more than a dozen cars on CL and it is the only safe way.

Meet at the SELLERS bank and deposit the cash.

One piece of advice for selling a vehicle. A cashiers/certified check is just like a personal check and a stop payment can be issued against it.

I sold a vehicle to an auto broker in Kansas. The guy was very upfront and is the one that told me that his certified check amount showing in my bank account doesn't mean crap. He told me to call the bank the check was drawn on to check with them to see when it cleared.
