It is frightening. What you have in a city like Jackson is democracy working in reverse. When the overwhelming majority of the electorate in a large metropolitan city is ignorant and uneducated, and in many cases willfully so, the leaders they elect will be the bottom of the barrel. And Jackson has hit bottom. It's like somewhere in Venezuela.

I agree with this for the most part. I'm grateful that I don't mind cold weather. Wyoming, Utah or maybe Idaho.

Having grown up in Jackson and now living in the BR area, I have said this for years. Malls are a great indicator of this. BR malls were about 7-10 years behind the demise of the Jackson malls. Even the build-up of the suburbs is similar. Either Watson, Prairieville (although I think it may be too late) or Satsuma would be smart to incorporate and then follow the Madison model.
