Isn't wanting "to kill time" nothing more than a slow suicide?

I mean each person only has so much time in their life anyway. It's a finite resource. I get wanting to pass the time away until the next big moment - but in the end that big moment always seems shallow.

Later in life, when we see our moments that remain running low, we'll probably look back and realize every moment in our lives was a big moment. So why are we so persistent in "killing time"?

Since we're all going to die, I don't see how being idle is anywhere related to suicide.

I make up for it by only sleeping 5 hrs a night

so what's the point? I mean I know you were trying to be witty with that response, but it's essentially restating the OP.

But if you are doing something worth while in an attempt to kill time, like masturbating then you should not have any regrets later on in life.

Yes.

Probably the reason so many people have "wish I did a job that was more rewarding" as a dying regret...if you are constantly living for the next weekend...

It's wasted life. Simple.

"killing time"

could just be a person's way to unwind from a stressful day at the office

each individual has their own way, purpose for, and definition of "killing time"

to some people that time is valuable and lets them reflect on their day or mentally prepare for moments to come

to say they hold no value may be true for you but not others

No, that's using time. Killing time is just finding something to do to get through the next few hours because you are bored.

I'm not doing that.

Didn't say it was suicide. I said it was a slow suicide.

Suicide is ending life. A slow suicide is slowly throwing your life away over time. Hence, killing time.
