Over the past few days I've gotten three emails purportedly from a deceased friend. These emails are obviously not from any of his family since the name is slightly different from his real name. His name was Jerry, and the emails have come from "Jwrry" or "Jrry". Since the name is not exactly the same as in my Contacts List they are shunted off to my Spam Folder where I delete them without opening.

Anyone else seen this?

The deceased have been using internet technology to contact the living for a while now. Unfortunately, the veil of the beyond doesn’t allow them to use a keyboard with 100% accuracy, resulting in a few typos.

This has been happening to my grandma for about a year now. They also call her all the time attempting to get money, usually claiming to be a relative in “financial trouble”

It's amazing how many people fall for this kind of shite though.

My mom runs the wire department for a big local bank and the amount of people that call because they wired a large sum of money to Kenya is mind boggling.

These are seemingly wealthy people too.
