Is there going to be road construction at Highland and Perkins by Troop A

I've noticed there are "counting cars" cables laying across Highland road, Perkins Road and Perkins Road East (Old Perkins) just before you get to the intersections. I've looked on the green light plan but couldn't find anything. Would be nice if they did something because it is always backed up at those places during rush hour. Anyone know anything?

Every so often (around 2 to 3 or 4 years), the State puts those counters down to get average daily traffic. This is to help with new construction projects (to determine if an area needs new construction) and to determine the usage of a road in an area.

Try navigating that Highland/Perkins/Highlandia/I-10 intersection between 4-6 M-F and ask me if counters are needed to tell there's a problem. It is a fubar of epic proportions, even by Baton Rouge's low standards.

there's talk of adding a new interchange at Pecue. More talk of widening I10 to three lanes all the way to Sorrento.
I personally think they need an interchange at Bluff which would reroute the Prairieville traffic from using the Highland exit.

Exactly, sometimes it will take 20-30 minutes to get to Highland Road from Pecue. A Bluff Road exit would help tremendously.

I know they tore down the Shell station around there, does anyone know what's going to be there?

There's not just talk. That's been in the works for a long time.

Yes. They would have to widen out that road though.

Until shovel meets ground, I call it "talk"

They want to make sure all lights are synchronized. Synchronized to make you stop at every one.

It's part of the green light plan.
