I was taught at a young age to always have a pocket knife to the point it’s part of getting dressed. It seems this isn’t the case with the younger generation.

I was at work the other day, hands were tied up with some boxes. Asked one of the kids in the office to hand me his knife real quick and I just got a blank stare. Had to stop what I was doing and pull my pocket knife out.

Do you not teach your kids that every man needs to carry a knife?

So why didn’t you have a pocket knife on you?

You carried a pocket knife as a kid and still turned out queer?

What's the point of having a knife if you're going to ask for someone else's and bitch when you have to use yours?

It is no coincidence that this country started going to shite when men stopped carrying pocket knives on a regular basis.

I still carry one daily but it’s definitely frowned upon here in Europe. My coworker freaked out a little when I pulled my knife out at work one day.

let me stop you right there.

most work places in 2024 are not going to allow you to carry a pocket knife. i carry one 24/7 outside the office for the exact reasons you mention. use it all the time.

I get this forboding sense of dread any time I'm not able to have my knife on me. All I can think about is, "What the hell am I gonna do if I have to peel an apple?"

My grandpa who never spoke a lewd word to me in his life once told me a man without a pocket knife is like a woman without a pussy.

I carry a pocket knife every day and use it multiple times a day. That was the one thing I wanted was my grandads pocket knifes when they passed and I have them now.

Since when is a pocket knife an art? To address the question, though, no I don’t carry one. I can count incidents where I needed a pocket knife and didn’t have one in my whole life on one hand.

I've carried one since I was about 9-10 years old.

We carried them to school when I was a kid. Small, rural private school. I couldn't do that anymore when I went to a public HS.

Unless I’m working in the yard, I just don’t use it enough to justify carrying it around. Will you invent “needs” for it if you carry it 24/7? Sure. When you’ve got a hammer, all the world’s a nail. But actual need is very rare when you’re just moving through society.
