Is it possible to go your whole life without paying taxes while having a checking account?

i understand if someone was all cash and had zero credit cards, checking account, etc

I am talking about the guy that has a checking account at the very least. Who deposits money into his account periodically and also make purchases on it.

How long before the government finds out and comes down on you? Surely at the very least, they could audit the checking account correct?

Great grandparents dealt only in cash. Didn't believe in bank accounts because they lived through the depression. After they passed away dollar bills were found all over the house in random spots.

If you were able to work for yourself in all cash you could in theory do it without paying taxes. Sooner or later someone will catch on though.

I know people who do business in cash (legally) and have checking accounts and don't pay taxes. I'll keep you posted.

Nope. The IRS has access to your checking account and if you set up a legit business you have to have an EIN. If you went straight cash under the table I guess you technically could, so if you were a drug dealer that never got arrested then maybe.

I can't imagine my grandfather trusting an ATM or online banking. And he sat on the board of his town's bank.

Not as a sole proprietorship.

If someone gives you a check you can cash it at the bank that carries the account. They'll just give you an envelope and cash for how ever much the check is for.
