Is it now acceptable to quit the same day you give notice?

I have always given two weeks. I watched some guy give two weeks a few months back and they booted him the same day due to network security concerns. No extra last paycheck for him.

I keep thinking I'm quitting later this month after only being there 6 months. Found a better job- actually life changing job. The notice I am giving, probably will be on a Friday. It's remote so I'll send them back their equipment same day.

Ronald McDonald gonna be real upset I'm now slingin those Rally fries.

Would they give you two weeks notice before canning your arse?

I guess it depends where you work. All I know is that I better have my stuff packed at my job because security is ushering me out as soon as I hit the send button on my resignation email.

Not sure but we had a senior Purchasing Manager give two weeks notice last Thursday. Friday morning his boss was bitching at him about something and he got up and left. Haven't seen him since.

It’s still customary to offer at least a two week notice, but with so many companies immediately escorting people out when they offer it, I think that is slowly changing. If you’ve already seen your company do it, I think you’re fine to not give one, though you will likely burn a bridge with them.

Yeah I don’t think I’m taking ANY shite during a two week notice.

This is how I feel about it as well.

Especially if it's for a life changing job. Although, I'll say, it's never good to burn bridges.

If you have a 6 figure salary, then no. It's not acceptable.

If you're 16-24 years old, then it probably donsn't matter.

2 weeks is just a courtesy that you give your employer for knowledge transfer, handing off projects, planning for your replacement etc. I'd walk out too if someone was yelling at me

Your shipping manager left to “find themself,” leaving you lost. You need to hire. You need indeed.

Depends on the job and how much of a bind you're putting them in by quitting. Some will walk you same day, some will beg for more than 2 weeks. Quitting and expecting to be done same day will (potentially) frick every relationship you have at that employer.

Wiped all of my devices multiple times before I sent them back.

Obviously, because of security purposes in transit.

My last employer asked me for 4 weeks when I quit but I declined. I'd been there for a decade and was pretty much in the middle of a year long project but that company was going to shite. I questioned whether they'd be in business for another year. They actually made it about 5 more though.

That's a big red flag right there.

I have quit with 0 days notice. Sent an email and said thanks for the fish but i'm not coming back.

They sent me my last check and I already had another better job.

it was a horrible job, morale was nonexistent, everyone hated it, and every day I wanted to choke out the arrogant retard of a supervisor.

I don't feel the least bit bad about it. I would never work there or see those people for the rest of my life.

Depends on the job and administrative vibe. I'd give two weeks.
