Love Jost van Dyke and the rest of BVI.

Honestly just use St Thomas as a way to get to St John. Only a 15 minute ferry ride from Red Hook. It's a different world over there.

That's the plan. I'd love to hear about your trip and pick your brain when you get back.

The morning part may be ok, but the evening sucks and by the time you get home, you might not be in the best of moods.

At the start of my career, I commuted 45 mi one way to work. As I transitioned jobs, the commute was a factor. My final job was 7.5 miles one way, which translated into more free time for me to be with my family. As I near retirement, the reduced commute translates to not only less wear and tear on the car, but on me as well. Yes, there is a quality of life issue and the older you get, the more it matters.

I guess we all do what we got to do, but I wouldn't commute 90 miles one way, and certainly not at this age.

I guess the questions you have to answer is what is it about the potential job that will make it worth your while to do such a commute, and whether or not there is any benefit to your family to make it worth it.

I used to live in Nj and drive 57 miles each way to Long Island each way. Gas tolls traffic more traffic

Did right at 60 miles one way for about a year. Couldn't imagine doing 90. As some have said, mornings aren't awful but the evenings suck. A lot of your new income is going to be spent on gas. And your vehicle is going to take some major wear and tear.

had a friend who did 85 one way for years. He bought cheap KIA's with 10 year warranty and good gas mileage- wore the crap out of them

Are all you friends that dumb? I'd rather this thread be about explaining why your friend would do that job?

I dont think its been mentioned, but being on the road for that long after a long days work can be very dangerous.

I did Watson to Gretna for a little over a year only because I just retired from the Army and was allowing my son to graduate with his class. The drive didnt bother me at all, but the time lost on the road did.

I had a VW Jetta at the time and was filling up every 3rd day and oil changes every 6-8 weeks. I would not recommend it nor will I ever do it again.
