On previous versions of iOS, if you were wearing a face mask and tried to use Face ID to access your phone, you’d have to wait for a couple seconds while your iPhone attempted to identify your face before it would let you enter a passcode. In iOS 13.5, though, if you swipe up once from the bottom of the screen while you’re wearing a mask, you’ll see the option to enter your passcode right away.

iOS 13.5 also supports Apple and Google’s exposure notification API, meaning you’ll be able to use apps developed by public health agencies that send you a notification if you may have been in contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19. The system is inactive until you have an app installed that uses the API, however.

At some point in the future, Apple and Google will build this functionality directly into the operating systems of their phones so that you can be notified that you may have been exposed to COVID-19 even if you don’t have an exposure notification app installed on your phone.

13.5 to have built in contract tracing software

When I first saw it on social media I thought it was a hoax until I researched it.

The dirty little secret is they’ve had this built into their maps for years. They are just now telling us about it.

Quick story...wife and go look at new cars then go to dinner. We literally sat in one type of new car at one dealership. Get to dinner and an ad for that type make and model new appears on her phone. It was either Apple or Facebook that had the technology but I’m confident it’s existed for years.

This isn’t new. We don’t need chips installed in our bodies for us to be tracked like some FB psychos seem to think.

Yes, but not by Facial recognition for governments use!

Hey, but I guess if nobody else cares then we deserve everything we get when the government decides you are a risk and quarantines you or your kids.

You suck a comprehension. Reread your OP. The faceID change has nothing to do with the government.

I think you are completely misunderstanding the proposed apple and Google Covid apps/alerts. Do some more research.

That car dealership marketing is just a fancy internet marketing trick called geofencing. You walked in with you phone into dealership. The company got your phones specs and is able to send you marketing info for a month.

The Covid-19 contact tracing app has to be downloaded and turned on by the user. Being tracked through your phone isn't anything new. I don't love it, but I've accepted it as a trade off for the convenience I desire of having a smart phone and utilizing apps.

You have the ability to turn off location services on an app by app basis. That’s not changing.

The FaceID is just an enhancement that allows people to open their phone faster. It has nothing to do with the government using your face.

Chill the frick out, Karen.

Evidently you do not comprehend what you read!

You are correct but being tracked by the Government without cause IS something new.

Plus, if it isn't something new and they have been "Doing this for a long time" why it in the release notes as a new feature?

It really amazes me how people are so willing to give up their freedoms. Oh well I will say it again: We get what we deserve!
