Does anyone here do this?

If your mom's family is prominent, is it wrong to do this?

Example:
Peter Dyckman Campbell, Dartmouth '56

I've literally never heard anybody do this. Your mother's maiden name is not part of your name, unless your parents weren't married when you were born, and you got one of them hyphenated names.

This question along with the ramifications of a long term fix to combat radical terrorism keep me up at night. My hope and prayer is that we will get answers to both. Love you guys.

I always go by Shaw, but mother always insists that I'm a Prentiss.

The only assholes that would do this are people that say they "summer" somewhere.

Absolutely not. One of my good friends from New York was born to a very well off family, but his maternal grandmother's name (not mother's) is worth as much as his father's success. His grandfather was a USMC BGen who married a socialite. His dad used her middle name and so does he.

ETA: I meant they used them as middle names (exactly as you represented Pete's use).

Sometimes your moms name means more. I don't see why taking advantage of that is a bad thing.

Based on your question, and your avatar, I'm assuming you're 8 years late in discovering Mad Men.

Believe it's Petey's middle name.

If your mother's family is prominent, then the man she married should have an equally respectable surname.
