I am on the FAA website and noticed its very easy to become a student pilot with a medical examination but what do I need to do to work as a pilot?

I want to be a temporary secretary.

First thing you should know is you'll be poor for a long time then when they start paying you good money you'll get laid off

better start now -- we're getting 10,000 muslim refugees and I'm sure flying classes will soon be very crowded

Most commercial pilots are ex-military flyers. Might ought to consider that route. You can certainly get a comm. job without military experience, but it's a long road.

"Temporary Secretary" planted a subliminal seed...

How old are you?
Commercial pilots starting off typically have a healthy amount of debt and make something like (no shite) $35000 a year flying small craft. It's a long road working your way up to flying wide-bodies for the big boy airlines.
Are you open to military?
Anyway, I know a lot of pilots and the one thing they have in common is that they absolutely love flying and would probably do it for peanuts for the rest of their lives if it came down to it. If that's not you, don't bother with it. You need to love aviation.
This link is a good start.

TLDR: The glory days of commercial aviation are over. If you love flying, pursue it. If you're looking to ball, go into something else. If you're young enough and physically, mentally, and academically qualified, look into Naval Aviation or the Air Force, but that will involve some shite duty in addition to the good times. Better pay than most below the Senior Captains at the major airlines, though.

How old are you?
How wealthy are you?
Have two pilots in the family, it takes some luck and/or military background to get your foot in the door with the big carriers.

Ok, let me begin with: how fast of a route are you looking to get paid to fly and how much disposable income do you have? I recently got my commercial license and it has been a journey because I went the civil route and I worked during all my training as to not incur much debt.
If you have money to spend or can take out a loan, you can go to an ATP school or Embry-Riddle and get everything there in a short amount of time, but you pay. After you get your commercial rating, you typically get your CFI so you can instruct, build time and get paid. No airliner is going to consider you unless you have 1500 hours of flight time. Even then, you start out at a regional airliner.
The part about loving it is true. What I suggest you do is go to a local flight school and request a discovery flight. You go up with an instructor and they let you fly the airplane a little bit and you will tell right away if it is for you or not.
If you have any questions, email me @gmail.com. I can answer anything you need because, well, flying is my job.
