Install shelf in bathroom to set coffee/food

Has anyone installed a shelf in their bathroom so that you can set your coffee and bagel on it in the morning while you do your business?
I'm considering installing one but I'd like tips from those who have already done it so that I can maximize its usefulness.

Genius! I have hardwood kitchen floors with an unfinished basement underneath. Shouldn't be too hard to install a shitter in there and tie in to the septic line underneath.

Do you use a poop stool (Squatty Potty)? I'd invest in that before a shelf. The better shits you take will save you time and be more comfortable that gets you back to your coffee and bagel in no time at all

No, I'm going for the ultimate in comfort so that I can sit there as long as need to be to enjoy my breakfast and let the excrement pass on its own schedule without having to push hard and exacerbate my hemorrhoids.

Just get yourself one of these that way if the one on your toilet breaks you have a spare handy until you can get yourself another one.
