How was a mobile phone useful in the escape?

Unless it was an old Motorla Razr.

Your almost to the border and you stop in Austin? He deserved to get caught.

Nobody can pass up our delicious BBQ. Probably went back to the motel to crush his Franklin bbq.

Enough snap to escape not once but twice but can't go 3 days either time without getting caught.....quite perplexing.

got to be more to it than that. Who gets life for kidnapping?

He burglarized the home of his former attorney, tied him and his family up at gunpoint and robbed them. This attorney represented him on two separate occasions and successfully pled his charges down so that the inmate did minimal jail time. I know the attorney and he is a good guy and probably one of the best criminal defense attorneys in the state.

My brother is head of the prison SWAT team in a state pen. He says they have absolutely NO contingency plans for drones dropping contraband in the prison yard. He says it has been a problem.

Seems it wouldn't be real hard for some kind frequency jammer to interfere with a drone in the air space over a prison. Hell just set up a detection system and let the guards shoot them down for target practice.

Seems like the armed guards should have the right to shoot down a drone over prison property.
But I take it, these drones a flying fairly high making them harder targets.
But, you can limit areas outside that the prisoners can wander around. I think a prison should have much less open space for the prisoners than elementary school kids get. Maybe give them about a couple of basketball courts worth of outdoor space and that's it.

Yes this is the tech he was lamenting they wish they had. Unfortunately, the pen is located in a highly populated area so it wouldn't be practical given the unintended consequences. He also said that they have to jump through crazy hoops to get the tech from the military.

ETA: they will be moving the pen to a more remote location in the next decade. That should help
