In honor of "flag day", here's a little tidbit

historically, the brass ball....on top of the flag pole, is supposed to contain a razor and a 45 cal bullet.


anyone know why? go!!

I've always heard it had a. 45 bullet, matches and a map. The matches were to burn the flag and the map was to show you where the pistol was so you could shoot yourself.
I've also heard it's a myth.

it's certainly not a myth on military bases. or....so I've heard.
