Wasn’t Bud Light born there? That should tell you a lot about that city.

I spent the last week in East Tennessee. Holy shite - what a collective of nice people. I had to fly back today and the first connecting flight was in Atlanta. I was immediately reminded how absolutely shitty people can be.

I’m ready to get the frick out of here. The dirty south is an absolute dump and many, many of us have no business being here. How many times do we have to be shown/told this before we’re shot/stabbed here ourselves?

I grew up smack dab in the middle of Missouri. A lot of my friends live and work in metro STL. I won't even go there to visit them.

They can come here or we can meet up in our hometown. I'm not going to STL anymore for any reason.

In STL with the family for a few days. Cardinals game was fun today with middle two. STL reminds me of Houston with its random "oh that's nice" and then instantly transitioning to "get the gun out". Have seen multiple drug deals and public shooting up nonsense. Doing zoo and city museum the next couple of days, happy to take reqs for food and such. Did the arch, I think it is something all Americans should do.

The food and nightlife scenes in STL are spread out and downtown is the worst. Need to go to Soulard or the Central West End or the Grove.

Take the kids to the science center(free)
Depending on age, take them to the magic house(like 20 each)
Twilight Tuesdays in forest park is fun and free. Pack a blanket, food, drinks, and sit out on the grass and enjoy free live music.
Rooftop 360 is a nice tourist bar. Lots of people go there to get a pic with the arch as a backdrop at night.

Food:

Evangeline’s in the central west end
Salt + smoke
Sugar fire
Grammaphone
Pops diner-delicious chicken wings.
Bing lau chop Suey-STL has the best Chinese food in America(get a St. Paul sandwich as well).
Broadway oyster bar
Imos pizza-make sure to order the toasted ravioli as well
Stl fish and chicken
Tuscano’s if you end up out in the st Charles area.

Insomnia cookies on Washington
Jilly’s cupcakes off 170(the kids and you will love their delicious cupcakes)

Edit: don’t know how I forgot Tucker’s in soulard.

It’s my hometown. They had a political divorce at the turn of the 1900’s when the City instituted a 1% tax on all business and the productivity moved west, formed “St Louis County” with its own governance and left it to rot. Season that history with white flight, better public schools, maybe a little red-lining to boot. Throw it in the oven with shitty inner city governance and the breakdown of the black family structure of the 1960’s. And voila! Modern St Louis.

Quite well stated.

Off topic, but La has 3 cities ranked in the cities with most crime.

Obviously NO, BR.. And then Shreveport. I knew Shreveport is a shithole, but I guess I didn't realize all of the murders they have.

I went to Hartford Connecticut and never saw a deader dowtown anywhere, ever. Not even in dead cities (on Sundays) in Europe like Frankfurt. Even in Frankfurt you might have movies, restaurants a smattering of shops.

There was a guide on what to do at the reception and it had one pizza place (which was fantastic), the in house bar/restaurant (excellent as well) a chinese place and italian take out...and that is it.

And the New England Patriots wanted to move there!
