Gotta say, never pictured myself for a cigar man. Never really smoked, tried first cigar at 30. Now in my mid 30's I've come back to them and it's definitely a little habit of mine.

I typicaly will only cut a 1/3 or 1/2 for the evining. It gives me that nice little buzz and helps me calm down and relax from the day especially if I had too much caffeine or just stressed out from day-to-day.

Was even able to reduce my beer habit, because the effect is comparable to 1-2 beers. I like the fact that it doesn't hamper my cardio and I don't have to cough up a lung since you don't inhale cigar smoke.

I don't smoke anything fancy, just generic brands, Perdomo, Punch and Macanudos(only when I run out of everything else). Any advice on better more smoothe brands?

Obviously cancer is something I'm aware of, but I'm kinda hoping that stress relief that smoking brings me will outweigh the harms.

Try a good tobacco pipe with a quality English blend. Might I suggest some Maltese Falcon or Plum Pudding?

Have done so plenty. I've come to realize it doesn't suit me.

I like them. Really like the smell. They are cigarillos techinically. Either because of smaller diameter, but I would have to smoke 2-3 BnM's in a row to achieve the same effect as of a 1/3 of a normal stogie. Either the tobacco isn't potent enough or the diameter and smoke absorption plays a big factor.

Don’t cut your cigars in half. Buy smaller cigars. Get some Punch London Clubs. There’s a good cigar thread on the FDB.

I was lost on that one. I'm a big fan of Arturo Fuente, and I inhale. Great with a nice bourbon or a Solara rum.

Having grown up with a Grandfather with throat cancer and removal of his vocal cords) I recommend not smoking or using tobacco. I also lost a good friend recently to lung cancer. Just my plea to folks to avoid tobacco.

What does that mean?

Cigars are like wines or craft beer - there’s so many makes and models but it’s totally subjective. Whatever you like is what is good.

I cut 1/3 of a cigar with a cigar cutter.
Someone said not to cut them but buy smaller cigars...I find that more costly economically.

Smaller cigars don't achieve me that level of relaxed buzz even if the total amount of tobacco smoked is larger. It must be absorption rate due to larger diameter.

Inhale into your palate or into your lungs?

Cigarettes do carry higher risk than cigars. Also moderate cigar smoking has been found to not carry any higher cancer risks than regular wine drinkers face.I'm talking 1 cigar/day or less. And yet all the soccer moms are smashing wine on a daily basis like it's good for them.

I'm not obtuse to the risks, but considering that cortisol and stress are also big contributing factors to cancer, I must say that reducing them by smoking a stogie at night doesn't strike me as irresponsible. Everyday we take risks, it's what we do.
