If you or your kids suffer from Psoriasis possible cure

My son had a horrible case about a year ago. We were informed by a local doctor that was a friend that was a new study indicting that tonsillectomies before maturity seemed to cure over 85% of these cases. It seems that bacteria that cause Psoriasis is stored in the tonsils for some reason. We approached our ENT, he read the literature and basically said it is a wonder we didn't figure this out years ago. After the surgery, it all went away and has had not any problems since. Our ENT told us in the Fall he has done the surgery about 12 times and so far worked every time and thanked us for the info. It will not work all the time but worth looking into before having to go on cancer causing meds.

I am not advocating anything, get that straight. I had mine out early at maybe 5 and have had no problems with the P, my brother on the other hand didn't and has. Just my .02.

I dont think Ive ever had my tonsils out.

That doesn't make sense. Psoriasis isn't caused by an infection. It is a problem with the immune system and inflammatory responses.
That's why people with psoriasis also have sore joints and other issues like IBS.

The immune response could be triggered by a bacterial infection. The jury is still out, however, on that as definitive.

Some of my most severe flair ups came after having strep throat

I have my tonsils out and still have psoriasis. Mine flares up with stress. I don't have the plaque type just the gutate. However it does get pretty bad on my scalp too. I never had problems with psoriasis until around 20-21.

How can you base a study off of 29 patients?

If that's all that are available?

Getting your tonsils out doesn't prevent one from getting an infection and therefore it is not a cure. If you mean "lesses the likelihood of" then maybe. The study uses a very small sample size.
Yes, psoriasis is related to the immune system. If you get an infection like Strep throat then your psoriasis is going to go crazy because that's your immune system attacking your body. Most of those people with psoriasis have probably had their tonsils out. I would be shocked if there is any correlation at all.

Just reporting what the study said. I have my tonsils, had strep constantly, and have RA, so maybe, just maybe....

It makes perfect sense. Your immune system is constantly cranking out these anti-bodies for strep that sits on your tonsils which causes the reaction. When the bacteria is removed along with the tonsils, the body stops pumping out the antibodies.

As someone who has had it for 26 years, it's an auto immune disease that occurs at the skin level. While they still aren't sure why it flares up (stress can be a big factor), there is never anything you can do to cure it. I do a couple different topicals multiple times a day and go do "light treatments" with a medical version of a tanning bed 2 to 3 times a week.

Same here. Also increased alcohol intake. I still drink like a fish though.

I would just talk to your doctor about it. I am not even sure I am giving you the right studies. All I can say is that is has worked for us so far and a bunch of people in this area. Talk to your doctor.

No, it's your whole body. The skin problems are just a symptom.

I wouldn't get my tonsils removed because that's all that's available.

Auto immune in my experience means that doctors dont fricking know. Can't seem to get a handle on any of them
