I'm for legalization. 100% behind it, really. I don't even use it, but the arguments against it are foolish and superficial.

They aren't addictive to everyone, just people with addictive personalities. If you can drink in moderation, you could probably do cocaine or heroin in moderation. I've never done heroin or cocaine, but drank enough alcohol and taken other addictive drugs (pills etc) to know that I would never become addicted to a recreational drug. I'm just not wired that way.

Someone at 40 with his life together doesn't rationally decide to try heroin to see what it feels like and become a hopeless addict. It's usually people who don't know any better, are trying to be cool, or are medicating themselves/running from something.

Some believe it may have been a key ingredient in the "anointing oil" he used. It was a common oil in Jewish tradition. There is debate about it, but there is a strong case that the key ingredient was cannabis extract, aka THC oil.

You put more emphasis on the addictive properties of drugs rather than the legal status. And alcohol is very much addictive.

Meh, I've never been concerned with the addictive properties, because I don't have an addictive personality. I never had a problem w/ alcohol, and I just never had the desire to do any drugs -- I knew they'd mess up my mind, and I felt like I'd be a follower. My life was already good, so why would I need anything else? Just my perspective. I had friends who smoked weed, and I saw how they became -- lazy, annoying, slouches who reeked of sour smoke -- I had no desire to do that.

Dude how many times are you going to use that same tired line? Your attempts at humor and wit are failing miserably, yet you continue with the same recycled crap over and over again.

I partook almost regularly throughout college and still graduated Magna Cum Laude, sooo there goes that theory.

You're 40 now, so it's a moot point, but you should have formed your own opinion and not eaten up everything that was told to you. I don't currently do it anymore, but a big part of that is, in fact, the legality issue of the matter (job).

If it were legal here, I doubt I'd do as much as I used to, but I'd probably do it every now and then, or for social occasions. It's not addictive at all, to me at least. There was a point when I wanted/needed to stop and I dropped it cold turkey with no withdrawls or urges to light up again. I still have plenty of friends that still do it on a regular basis who I'm around a lot. They're high, I'm not. Not a big deal. I still enjoy their company and am not a douche about it.
