Try a pair of Paradigm bookshelf,speakers with a good subwoofer. Excellent value and performance.

Way back in the day, my parents had one of the first Bose "Lifestyle" surround systems for their "big screen" (early to mid 90s). It had real theater sound and was pretty awesome. After that unit went caput, they bought the next iteration of the Lifestyle SS. It sounds like crap by comparison to the first one.

Everything Bose I've heard since really sounds deadpan, like it has no range. As others have noted, still way, way overpriced for what you get.

I can only imagine what that sounded like. Before Bose sold out, it must have been pretty good.

I love my 7.1 Onkyo system, bose makes great computer speakers, their 2.1 companion system is the tits
