I need ideas on how to retrieve a broken piece of sheetrock

Wife was in the attic went she should not have been and stepped through the ceiling. About a 1-2 feet piece of sheetrock fell down but it fell into our enclosed fireplace well.
So you don't actually see any damage when you are downstairs. Maybe it's fine just sitting in that well but it's leaning up against the fireplace cylinder and for peace of mine i'd like to retrieve it before starting a fire.
Any thoughts at all?

I'd try to chopstick it out with some poles

An entire floors worth. So a good 10 feet.

You wouldn't happen to have a pool or anything? I'd think a pool net would work.

Any pole with a wood screw taped to end. Stab it and lift out. Threads should hold it
Also light bulb pole with suction cup on end if it's laying flat.

or just use a pole to bust it into pieces and leave it on the floor.

My office has one of those but its only about 2 feet long. Do they make them 10 feet long?

I have one of those. It didnt come close to working. It's too heavy. I tried duct tape, suction, two pronged cooking fork.
None even came remotely close to lifting it.
Did not try a wood screw though. The threads theory aint half bad.

The idea of breaking it up may be the next best thing.

This one is 6ft but, $32 for a one time thing seems like a waste.
