I had a colonoscopy in December and this part scared the shite out of me (not literally, no pun intended).
If you did it right, there was nothing left to scare out of you.

Been sedated with propofol for mine as well.
I wanted to try and stay awake as long as possible to see what it feels like.
I was staring out the window and you feel the slight burn of it going in. And then your mouth tastes like this weird chemical plastic type taste - it just feels very synthetic.
Then my vision started to get blurry like in the matter of seconds. I felt lighter. I felt my worries just drift away. Like all my thoughts just drifted off to silence and I just felt so at ease and calm. I think I even went “ahhhhhh”.
This was all in the matter of 5-10 seconds. I remember hearing them doing the procedural time out at the end of this 5-10 second window.
Woke up in the post procedure area and I felt like I had napped for a week. I felt so well rested and refreshed.

I didn’t get the “these drugs feel good” gene. I’ve had dilaudid, tons of opiates (because of injuries), I’ve had propofol and fentanyl.
I never once came away saying “that was great” or “that felt nice”, or anything. For me, it kills the pain and I’m very thankful for that, but that’s it.

True story. The peace I felt upon waking was ethereal. I asked for more and my nurse said now you know how MJ died.

It knocked me out but I didn't get any high feeling when I woke up. Just kind of an out of it feeling like half awake half asleep for a bit.
Yep. Have had multiple colonoscopies and endoscopies and never got a "high" from the propofol. Ever.

My blood pressure was in the 150+ range when they were about to give me propofol. I was anxious as hell. As safe as general anesthesia is, it’s natural to feel some anxiety towards something that basically puts you in a forced coma

I felt euphoric after ripping a 3 minute fart.
I think they pump air into your colon during the procedure.
My wife refused to fart until everyone left the room. She was only behind a curtain. The nurse and I clapped and said "well done, well done".

Ketamine is most often used in combinations with other drugs like propofol. Thus the term ketafol. Propofol used for endoscopies is also often used in combo with benzodiazepines (Versed) and opioids (Fentanyl). The comment earlier about “sleep apnea” (really obstructive sleep disorder) is a very true statement. Most problems during heavy sedation are airway in origin.

Having a colonoscopy is the best sleep I’ve had in 10 years.

my second to last scoping, I was prepped up ready to go hospital gown only and the most gorgeous blond nurse walked in to take me to the next station. Wife with me sez calm down.
Last scoping, checking in nurse asked me if I need to go to the toilet. I responded I don't feel like trusting a fart. She made me go to the facility

The best part about Propofol that at least for me there was no hangover effect like you get from other forms of anesthesia that really knock you out like for surgeries etc. I got home and felt great.

Bumping this thread.
I have a colonoscopy scheduled for Thursday morning and then my fantasy football draft (in person) being that night around 7pm. There any issues here post sedation/anal probe?

When they put me "in the position" I told them that usually someone buys me a few drinks first.

As I was fading out, I turned to the doctor and said, “Don’t touch my a-hole.”

You should try Fentanyl.

Have you never had anesthesia before? You just described what anesthesia is/does.

My effects were from the fast, purge and little sleep the night before due to headache and the prior mentioned. Just was tired as hell.
