I have termites...

Doing a little spring cleaning and looked in my window and saw something that looked like dust build up... After further inspection it was small nests of termites... The house is total brick and after a couple of years I cancelled the pests control policy on it... How screwed am I? Does homeowners cover this? As far as I can see its confined to this one window but they're down in the wood so I don't have any idea what the internal damage is.. Advice needed.. Already called pest control.. Anybody ever dealt with these things?

Please tell me you do not have a wooden leg.

Nothing like "worms" in your "wood".

Your mom asked the same question...

I would never cancel a termite contact. That's just something you don't mess with.

No big deal.
Just get it treated around your house and replace the damaged wood.
You don't have termites. Termites come into your house every day and eat the wood. If you treat and kill the colonies, the termites are not in your house anymore. Now, you just have to figure out how much damage they have done and fix it.

It's really not as big a deal as people want to make it out to be.

What carrier do you have? They offer service to the afterlife?
She's been dead since 1996, admittedly probably of shame, no doubt but still a fact.

Just got finished dealing with it. They got into the framing around the window in my laundry room. How handy are you?
First, go outside and find where they're getting in. Take a shovel and dig back away from the underside of the brick. You should find some little dirt tubes.
I cut back the drywall to one stud on either side of the window. Bought Spectracide Termite foam at lowes and used 3 cans of it. Pulled out the affected wood and re-framed the window myself. Typically, they wont eat OSB sheathing, so if thats what was used on your house you'll probably be okay. Had the house treated last week. I went ahead and foamed/sprayed myself in the flower bed they were coming through in.
In total, its gonna cost me about $200 to fix everything, but I'm doing the framing/drywall work myself. I caught them pretty early too, so they hadnt gotten into my top plate and I was able to reframe pretty easily. Once you spray and cut off their access to dirt, they should die out.
Go ahead and call an exterminator too. Hope this helps.
EDIT: Also OP, I've treated myself for the last few years. You can do it but its a good bit of work. Got busy and didn't treat over the winter time, and thats when they got in. I did sign up for a contract (house was new and didn't have one).

I win. Guess you had better call for an inspection.

Hell man my bad...

Yeah... I'm sure it's just that one window. Termites are pretty reasonable when they go to work on your house.
They should leave after they've had their fill of the window sill.
You'll be fine!
