How clean are these things. Research states that they are "almost" immune to rabies and such. Found roughly 7 ( I think ) babies. Two can fit in the palm of my hand. They are cute. I don't want to just leave the8m out in the cold. I have brought them in my shed, made a bed for them, and covered them with a thick blanket. They're all huddled together.

Thoughts and resources are appreciated. I've been researching for over an hour yet, figured there might be some experienced hands on here. Should I just bring them up to LSU Vet school in the AM?

TIA.

EDIT: pics of the babies

They may not live long without being bottle fed.

You know the OT rules--- Pics?

Really though, can you tell if they are still of nursing age or if they can eat solids?

From my limited experience (of dealing with them on the front porch of the house I grew up in) they will eat anything. At least anything my cats/dogs would eat - sweets, dairy, leftovers, etc. So, if it were me, I'd maybe try to feed them some bread or cheese or something like that to see if they would eat? I really have no clue though.

How do you know they're orphaned? Did you witness the murder of their parents?

He did. It happened in a dark alley outside of an opera house. Soon they will grow... and they may not become the opossums Alex Box deserves, but will become the opossums Alex Box needs.

I'd put them back where I found them. The mom doesn't stay on the nest all day. She will be looking for them.

Wildlife places uses babies like these to feed other animals. He needs to hand feed and raise, he might need to take Family medical leave from work till they are self sufficient

Found some babies as a child. Bottle fed them, kept them inside for months.
They were awful. Mean as stink. Dirty and gross.
Let nature take its course. If you are trying to be humane, give them a quick death.
