I guarantee you that if you or I had access to these kids personal info we could define if they were a credible threat in less than 15 minutes.

If the parents of these idiots were actually involved in their lives, I doubt this would be happening. But yeah no video games for starters.

When did this sort of behavior not only become okay, but also defended?

I'm not defending their behaviour. I'm saying that gov't overreaction is a far greater threat than teenage tweets.

What we are seeing is a bit like "I am Spartacus"

It's quite an intriguing expression of resistance to what they (the kids) feel is an overbearing authority that has confiscated rights in pursuit of something that is impossible to achieve.

TRUTH! The scarier part is all of the people who are buying what the government and media is selling. Its like they want to live in fear!

ETA: Please start spelling "behavior" in a non-douchebag way. TIA!

Well said.
We have a bunch of Luddites in gov't that are seeing a medium of communication that is threatening their power.

The English are all douchebags? It's a perfectly valid spelling and I take offence at your accusation.

You're making this bigger than you're accusing some of us in this thread. This is about people being held accountable for their actions. It's that simple and you're complicating the issue for some reason.

Yes they are. We are in America and you are better than that but if you want to come off as an a-hole that is your choice. Oh....and yes ISWYDT there and don't appreciate it!

Just because they don't fully realize the gravity and deeper meaning of their actions doesn't make them any less important.

They are taking a risk to point the finger at a bloated power structure and daring it to attack all of them.

When will the government start being held responsible for their actions?

It's habit. My phone autocorrects it to the UK spelling after being corrected by me for so long

No they aren't. They're playing follow the leader in an attempt to be edgy and cool.
