Got back from the road trip to LA and went straight to the beach, so now is the first time I have to post some of the pics. It was a solo trip, and there was a lot of driving, but only the part between San Diego and El Paso sucked...and I mean really fricking sucked. I wouldn't ever suggest anyone making that drive. It was horrible. The rest of the driving wasn't bad at all. I only got one ticket in Lordsburg, NM. It is a legit, make no bones about it, speed trap. Waze, V1, and laser jammer kept me safe the rest of the time.
Couple notes:
The entire city of Dallas is under road construction
Amarillo is pretty boring
The mountains between Amarillo and Flagstaff are all completely flat on top
Petrified forest and painted desert blew. If you ever have the opportunity, don't go
Flagstaff is pretty awesome
Altitude made me dizzy and have a headache for an hour
The morning I left Flagstaff, it was 58 degrees
Feather indians are all very poor
Grand Canyon is pretty cool, but they need guardrails
Hoover Dam has traffic
Las Vegas is very cheesy
LA literally smells like a dump and there is smog everywhere from the 40 million people on the road at all times
California and Louisiana were the only places with 70mph speed limits that I went through
Between LA and San Diego is beautiful
San Diego to El Paso on I-8 is horrible
Why do people live in the desert?
Border fence is only 6ft tall, but the people who make it that far 100% deserve to be here. Don't think so? Drive out there and take a look at the scenery
El Paso is VERY Mexican
18 wheeler fires are big
El Paso to New Orleans only took about 13.5 hours, with lots of traffic
Props to the big rig drivers who can make it up and down the passes between Vegas and LA and the one south of San Diego
I don't know what it is about you Texas drivers. Either they breed yall as idiots, you can't read, or you can't count. I spent hours more time passing left lane riders from San Antonio to Lake Chuck than I did passing people correctly. Congrats for promoting my extremely agressive driving.
I also discovered that I definitely take trees and bodies of water for granted
Pics:
Lots of windmills in Northern TX and Southern NM/AZ
Some cut through a mountain in AZ. Texas cuts were completely vertical, but everywhere else was not
Flat mountains
A vertical wall at this gas station in Indian territory. Their highest octane everywhere was 89
Arizona Snowbowl. I stayed right at the entrance to this road (7000ft), but this was at the parking lot (8900ft)
Riding up some rocky/muddy trail on the mountain. This was pretty awesome
Grand Canyon is a big hole in the ground
Road to the Hoover Dam
Pat Tillman Bridge
Hoover Dam
Some river/lake that touches the Hoover Dam
Surfing competition between San Diego and LA
I tried to get a pic of this chick's arse, but it was too far away
Desert in CA
El Centro, CA temp while moving
Border fence
Border Patrol checkpoint
This road was straight for about 20 miles
One of the two 18 wheeler fires I drove past in TX. From the first pic to the last one was under 5 minutes

As it has been for the last 20 years... population growth demands increased infrastructure. I think this is a good thing, unlike other cities that grow grow grow and do not add anything because of politicians and environmentalists.

Yes

Flagstaff is pretty awesome
Agree

Las Vegas is very cheesy
In what way? It's too big of a city, you need to find your niche

Hate Los Angeles, this is one of the reasons. Hated traffic, hated the crowdedness

San Diego to El Paso on I-8 is horrible
Disagree, I like it

It's a joke, its like a backyard fence. No one actually foot treks through the desert though and climbs it. They hire coyotes.

El Paso is VERY Mexican
No different from Mexico

You mean plateaus?

Yeah baw. Basically mountains chopped in half. Very weird looking

Did you stop at "The Thing" in Arizona? I know you saw the signs. Lol
How about those huge sand dunes right when you go into California in I-8?

good stuff man! looks like fun!

Yeah I saw the signs, but it looked like just a gas station
Those desert pics were all from the CA desert. It was miserable.
I passed up a big rig pulled over in Sonora, TX that was just starting to catch fire. His tires were the only thing in flames, so I am assuming he was just riding his brakes and they got too hot. Cops hadn't even shut down the interstate yet.
Those grades going into/out of California are serious business man. The one by the solar farm coming out of Vegas was like 5 miles long. I could definitely tell who was underpowered/grabbed the wrong gear. Some loaded trucks were running 35-45 up that, and some were barely making it in their granny gears

The "flat mountains" are mesas. The "windmills" are electric generating wind turbines.

Looks like it was a great road trip.
