I guess this route was the last one on the priorities list. It's like you get the scenic route, when the last thing you want to do, is still be in Alexandria.

truth

start at the Holloway General Store in Deville, travel west past the beautiful architectural homes of Pineville, cross the beautiful and majestic Red River into historical downtown Alexandria.

Drive past the towering sky scrapers, then turn onto the "Little Vegas Strip of the South" aka McCarther Drive. Pass the multitude of fine dining establishments before going out of Alexandria into the beautiful landscape along Hwy 28 West. Drive past gorgeous cropland while admiring the southern heritage of the homes of the area.

Continue on past Kincaid Lake, into the piney hills and through the quaint village of Gardner.

End at the cultural mecca of Leesville.

Ha. Yep.

Best part of my drive this weekend was when I beat someone that tried to go the old shortcut way around the traffic circle in leesville. (Going west then south).

Eliminating that cut through was the main reason behind the traffic circle. That and, people were getting killed crossing 28 to continue North on 117.

Yep, and people still can't help themselves. They should have made it where you couldn't make a left to the cut through if you wanted to.

I was on a jury that had to listen to a case that involved an accident at the Hwy 28 and 117 intersection the way that it use to be designed. The victims were going south on 117 and did not stop in the median before proceeding accross the eastbound lane of 28. They got hit and killed by a dump truck load of gravel.

I like the way that we are told it is not a traffic circle, it is a round about. Which is translated to mean small traffic circle.
