17 year old Furnace went out last night. Need to replace my unit, best brands and best way to get the best deal without having a shitty installation done.

Do you have home warranty? Going to get pretty pricey if you don't. As far as brands, Trane is the best way to go but you can't go wrong with Carrier either.

probably gonna be pricey. With r-22 going bye bye, they are going to have to set you up with a 410A or 407C unit which could mean replacing copper tubing.

Trane or Rheem.

Trane is a mercedes. Rheem is a honda

I'd recommend my guy but he doesn't work during hunting season. Every and all hunting seasons.

House is only 1600 sq foot. It's a crawlspace brick home. A company quoted me a Trane XT95 100K BTU at $4400 including labor. My AC unit is a 2008 Goodman he recommended replacing it as well, but I think I'll hold off. 4K at Christmas isn't a tasty pill to swallow.

why replace the goodman? the avg life of an AC condensing unit is 15+ years. Get the coils cleaned a few times a year, keep refrigerant levels optimal, and keep your filters changed and it should last.

ETA: this link with ASHRAE life expectancy. show that to your boy and he'll flip that you know anything about ashrae. Those guys only make money replacing units so ofcourse he is gonna tell you that you need a new one.

looks like the life of a furnace is 18 so you were pretty much due

I looked online and most people are paying $2k for the unit and $1500 for installation. Greenville has two companies that deal in Trane.

Get a price from both and let them know you are shopping.

Off topic, I have a 16 year old Trane A/C-heat pump. I have had to replace one $25 electrical part. Trane will be replacing Trane in my house, when needed.
