I often think about the massive amount of information we're generating and how fast differing formats and degradation of storage media means that we're losing all of that information forever, like a digital Library of Alexandria.

Then I see a Mizzoukills thread and I'm ready to throw the first torch myself.

That is a scary thought. Instead of progressing we're actually degressing...but most people are too stupid to realize it.
