That particular galaxy is several frickton miles away, at least.
And if you look a little more closely you'll see there are several spiral galaxies in the photo. They look *much* smaller which means they are *much* further away.

so that picture is 60 million years old then and North America looked like this when that light first emitted toward this way...

This map shows how North America appeared 60 million years ago. Earth's climate was warm relative to today. Polar ice sheets were smaller and sea level was higher. The climate in Nebraska was warm and humid, and the Rocky Mountains were forming in the western part of North America.
