It would still bottleneck. Only difference is it would just move it further east about 100 yards. There needs to be another lane all of the way to College

This. Is just going to "kick the can", so to speak. The biggest part of the bottleneck is the amount of freight vehicles mixed in with cars/trucks. For every 18 wheeler you see, that takes the space of at least 3 to 4 cars. And then add that they are coming around that curve slow as molasses. I-10 needs to be 3 lanes and there needs to be a bypass route (loop) for all the trucks passing through.

If people would realize they can go faster than 40mph through there it would help.

Think to yourself, what is the likelihood this happens in the next 5-10 years if it takes almost 2 just to close off an exit.

That's the plan I believe. I also suspect the non yes-man engineers at DOTD are telling the Secretary and politicians to walk back their public comments that this will fix I10 traffic congestion.

As i said in another thread a lot of these things that have been "studied" over and over again are because of how the budgets work. If the agency doesnt use their budget that dont get that the next year. so come towards the end of the year and they havent reached their allotted budget that pay money on tons of studies.

Someone needs to take one for the team and blow up the bridge so it forces BR to re-do everything

What would help a ton and doesn't require any construction would be to make Port Allen truck traffic on LA1 enter I-10 at hwy 415 instead of at LA1(foot of the bridge). Those trucks get into the bridge traffic at about 20 mph. The on ramp is too steep and they cannot build any speed. It causes a huge back up in traffic everyday. Same goes for trucks entering on the BR side at Highland.

Maybe it'll happen in 10-20 years, but more studies must be done and such. No chance it happens before rocket gets married to an IRL 4

I don't think they are closing it. Just offering an alternative they hope will get used. It's ridiculous and won't help much at all. 110 should be 1 lane and 10 should get the 2. 110 gets 50,000 cars a day at that point. 10 gets 100,000 and that's double since 1997. Doesn't take a genius to know what needs to be done here. Also 110 travelers will have plenty of distance to merge and it's relatively straight and with no incline to deal with that slows the trucks. The bridge has an incline and travelers will pass slow vehicles in a choice of 2 other lanes both of which must be merged from eventually. There is also a curve to deal with and the trucks will continue to constipate the ramp causing major slow downs and many times accidents which only make matters worse. So a lane needs to be switched from 110 to 10 until a permanent fix can be implemented.

It keeps people from trying to get off at Washington comeing from 110 going across 4 lanes of traffic. They will literally stop on the Interstate to get over. Inconsiderate drivers causing much of the havoc.
