Say you met on tinder. When your parents ask what that is, say it's a phone app that you go on to frick random strangers. Don't see what's so complicated about this

How about you just be honest about it? She's a cool girl that you could have met anywhere but you happened to meet her online. If they judge you, frick them. It's your life. If she makes you happy, that's all that matters.

On day you will reach an age where you really don't give a rat's arse what anyone thinks of you. It is liberating.

No parents of a college age person know what Tinder is. Literally, none. Zero.

I met mine online on a thing like Tinder, and I was just honest about it and said we met online through a non-traditional dating site. If they judge me for meeting someone I think I'm perfect with, then frick em. They fortunately liked her a lot and didn't see the fact that I met her through an unconventional means as a bad thing. I'd advise honesty in the situation, since they will find out eventually.

Your parents sound like a bunch of judgemental and hypocritical pricks. They need to come to the realization that Mrs. Right for you will have some sort of flaws and baggage just like their son does. You need to tell your parents to frick off on judging you for this. Are you really just supposed to not hook up with anyone but Ivy League students through your time in college? Your parents need to grow the frick up and realize that the person who is ideally perfect for what they want your life to be likely won't be the exact same person you are actually attracted to and will fall for.

I met my wife on AOL instant messenger and neither of our families made a big deal about it. We have been together since 2000 and married since 2003. Your family needs to grow up and realize this is a new technologically connected world.

I enjoyed reading this thread. It gives real insight into the machinations of young minds.
