To species that practice it. Like is there a certain class or genus that all species of it fall into or is it pretty random throughout nature. Naturally curious although I'm sure this is the last place I should be asking

Male chimps will sometimes rape other male chimps, especially after winning a fight, as a display of dominance

I don't have a link, but I have heard on nature shows on tv that animals exhibit homosexual tendencies in the range of 10% - 15%...

I don't doubt that at all based on the behavior of cattle that I have seen.

A bull will mount a steer not because he is gay, but because he is a stupid fricking cow

If you think homosexuality is rare in nature, your country bumpkin arse is about to get rocked (in a gay way)

Check out this list of every animal to have recorded homosexuality behavior. It's pretty damn big FYI

And keep your "naturally curious" talk to your mom, it's clear your a fig

In nature, such activity is to display dominance over a rival. For example, male hippos fight over territory/females, and it has been observed that the victor hippo mounts the loser in a display of dominance.

Bonobos (Pygmy Chimpanzees) are the sexual freaks of the animal kingdom.
quote:

Perhaps the bonobo's most typical sexual pattern, undocumented in any other primate, is genito-genital rubbing (or GG rubbing) between adult females. One female facing another clings with arms and legs to a partner that, standing on both hands and feet, lifts her off the ground. The two females then rub their genital swellings laterally together, emitting grins and squeals that probably reflect orgasmic experiences. (Laboratory experiments on stump- tailed macaques have demonstrated that women are not the only female primates capable of physiological orgasm.)

Male bonobos, too, may engage in pseudocopulation but generally perform a variation. Standing back to back, one male briefly rubs his scrotum against the buttocks of another. They also practice so-called penis-fencing, in which two males hang face to face from a branch while rubbing their erect penises together.

You do understand what asking "how rare" something is right? It's not like you asked how rare is a 30 year olds knowledge of 9/11
